Thursday: Our favorite villain has returned! Read into that what you will...

Once again, I won't know what films are playing this weekend until tomorrow... the mystery continues! But today, the big Bollywood story is Selena Gomez's bindi game.

"The bindi on the forehead is an ancient tradition in Hinduism and has religious significance," Hindu statesman Rajan Zed told WENN (via MSN). "It is also sometimes referred to as the third eye and the flame, and it is an auspicious religious and spiritual symbol ... It is not meant to be thrown around loosely for seductive effects or as a fashion accessory aiming at mercantile greed."

Yeah, I'm on team nobody here. On the one hand, Selena Gomez is culturally appropriating with her new image (and song) but on the other hand, the anti-bindi crusade reads more like those FIRs that get filed against movies for having smoking in them or because there's an item than coming from a place of real hurt. If the bindi has him that mad, why not arrest every henna booth giving white kids "spiritual symbols" at state fairs across America?

Selena's Indian drag (musical and otherwise) is in poor taste is what this all comes down to. Here's a handy checklist for her the next time she decides to go the "exotic" Gwen Stefani route:

As Bollywood celebrates 100 years, the early films have disappeared.

According to Nair, who worked for about 26 years with the Pune-based NFAI, 70 percent of Indian films made before 1950 were not available for archiving. "All gone, destroyed and vanished, so there were only leftovers that were archived. Before 1950, we collected whatever films came our way; so it was not much of a selection... Later, the selection happened post the 1950s era when the National Film Awards came in (1954)... I don't think we have collected all films," he added.

Anil Kapoor talks about bringing 24 to Indian television and…

Q: What does it take to make an international-level TV show in India? A: The first is the scale and the budget. Everything is about money today. I can't tell you about the budget but I can say that we are trying our best to have the same scale. That was the major thing, the biggest hurdle to cross. Convincing the channels that this is what it is.

The Three Khans will not be seen together.

However, the source adds that after learning that Shah Rukh has already signed on to the project Salman became less interested in the project: “Salman didn’t want to be in the same frame as Shah Rukh. It’s common knowledge that after their spat a few years ago, the two don’t see eye-to-eye. And when he found out that SRK has given his nod for the song, he didn’t show much interest. Though SRK hasn’t shot for it yet, it looks difficult to get both these actors together for the song.”

You have to love how Salman really doesn't care about any of the pomp and circumstance of Bollywood and feels no obligation to be part of anybody's Three Khan wet dream.

Is it Ileana D'Cruz for Gabbar?

Vidyut Jamwal replacing Irrfan Khan in Bullet Raja AND doing his own fight choreography? I just got excited.

Huh. It turns out that Nargis Fahkri is exactly the Natalie Portman in Garden State Manic Pixie Dream Girl she appears to be.

Propelled by a globetrotting mother, currently in the Bahamas, who handed her a backpack at 15 and said the world is safe enough. "If I ever have babies, I will strap them on my back like an African, and trek through the jungles of wherever, and I hope whoever my partner in crime is will feel the same way, and they'll be strapping on the other one," she declares.

Nothing like a lady in her 30s who speaks and acts like a 15 year old. Ammirite? Ammirite? (Paging Priyanka Chopra, girlfriend is trying to steal your turf.)

And while we're on the topic, why is she still getting magazine covers? She's done exactly one film in which her performance was so bad that nobody else seems particularly inclined to give her more acting work. Why exactly is she still getting big interview pieces and magazine covers? Am I missing something?

A little big of Policegiri has been "leaked," possibly so we can see why Sanjay needs an additional four weeks for all his commitments.

And, finally, some photos snagged from Prabhu Deva's twitter feed of his shooting in the Sahara Desert!

O ho ho! Who is that handsome fellow on the right? MR. SONU SOOD ALL HEALED AND READY TO KICK ASS AGAIN!?

But you'd have a negative comment if the name was not Salman but SRK, despite the action being the same.

I'm not critising since I like reading your blog and respect your opinions, I only mention that as an observation you may have missed.

Oh, come on...if SRK was to back out at the last minute, citing his problems with Salman, you'd take the piss out of him. Salman does it, and he's an aloof superstar "not interested in the pomp and circumstance of Bollywood". Puh-lease :P

Not true, ladies! SRK is very interested in pomp and circumstance. Wave an award at him and he'll be right there. Salman... he really DOESN'T care.

I'm not at all saying that SRK is not interested in pomp and circumstance. He is and I know it and everybody knows it. The man hosts a million award shows every year. :P

I'm merely pointing out that if Salman had already shot his part of the song & SRK refused to participate because of that, you'd SURELY be taking the piss out of Shah. ;-)

But according to the article the reason why Salman declined was due to a scheduling conflict.

The bit about not wanting to share a frame with SRK (which he wouldn't have, anyway) came out of the writer's imagination, I think, as is the case with most of these Bollywood reporters' "feud" stories.

Yeah, I think when you look at Salman or SRK, you got to look objectively. It's not that FG would shit on SRK for doing the same, she was just putting this in regards to each of their behaviors/personalities, in general. Salman doesn't give a shit about this type of stuff, that's who he is!

SRK does, that's who he is! There are two different people that think differently. :)

Comments from the Khan-impaired:

Sonu has been back in the saddle for a few days, maybe a week? Anyway, pleased that Prabhudeva/Shahid/the producers kept him on instead of cutting him loose like the Zanjeer guys did.

Ileana is a logical and kind of boringly competent choice for the not-girlfriend in Gabbar. If they give her any fantasy song picturizations where she imagines Akki romancing her, things could get...weird, because they both have a penchant for slightly risque dance moves (or a knack for making them seem more risque than usual-take your pick.)

Note from Filmi Girl:

I love Bollywood - and all the ridiculous things that happen in Bollywood - but it doesn't mean that I can't occasionally make fun of various celebrities and films.

If you don't like my sense of humor, please just move on by - Trolls are not appreciated and nasty comments will be deleted.
