Wednesday Gossip Post!!

Start your day off right with some Australian news coverage of the new reality show "Bollywood Star." It looks amazingly entertaining! Also, I would like to visit Australia!

* Will Rohit Shetty team up with Karan Johar? And what on earth sparked this potential pairing? This is almost as odd as the Karan Johar-Ekta Kapoor pairing. Is Karan on a mission to get every hot ticket in town over to Yash Raj?

Says Rohit Shetty:

"For me, making a film for Dharma is not just a project but a big responsibility. People are saying it’s going to be one of the biggest collaborations ever but for me it’s a film that I want to work harder for. I want to make a good and highly successful commercial film for Dharma. Not to prove anything or to anyone but to pay tribute to a man who is not with us. A man the Hindi film industry respects and loves. This one is for Yash Johar.”

* Meet Huma Qureshi the female lead of Gangs of Wasseypur.

Paired with Nawazuddin Siddiqui (Khan from Kahaani), Qureshi plays a girl named Mohsina in the two-part film. “She’s a small town girl of the ’90s who is a film buff. In her head, she’s the Madhuri Dixit or Raveena Tandon of her town, so someone like her has to fall in love with a man who is inspired by Amitabh Bachchan,” she says.

* This marketing stunt for Rowdy Rathore sounds like it's going to be a trainwreck... but one that will be entertaining to watch.

Rowdy Rathore makers have tied up with a radio station to do a nationwide contest to hunt for the rowdies — the do-gooders who stand up for justice or do something noble for society. The chosen gang of rowdies will promote the film alongside Akki in all the cities.

If there is one thing I need to see, it's a group of overly enthusiastic "rowdies" showing off on stage with Akshay on a major city tour.

* And it seems Sonakshi's part was re-written to be larger than the heroine's in the original?

* Vikram Bhatt zings post-converted 3D as he gets ready to release Dangerous Ishhq.

* Interesting little interview with music director GV Prakash.

How difficult is it to score for Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films simultaneously?

The taste of the audience varies in all three languages. In Tamil, the folk element is very strong, whereas in Telugu films, the audience loves techno beats. In Mumbai, I find the music mostly bhangra-driven. No matter what the language or genre, I try to cut a stylish album - something that will be ingrained in the listener's memory for a long time. For example, in Akshay Kumar's "Joker", the music is upbeat and peppy and in "Gangs of Wasseypur" it's the extreme - dark and moody. But nevertheless, it's a challenge and a great working experience.

He also talks about scoring for 3D films... which seems odd but who knows? Maybe music needs to be different for 3D, too.

* Rahul Bose and Konkona Sen Sharma to reunite in an adaptation of Tagore's Shesher Kabita.

* Looks like Vazhakku Enn 18 / 9 is definitely getting remade in Hindi.

* This just grossed me out. If Rajinikanth isn't comfortable with her "scorching moves," cut them out.

I don't think Rowdy Rathore needs that much publicity, like this search for rowdies. It's Akshay Kumar in a double role where he plays a hilarious con-man, AND a badass cop. Who WOULDN'T go see that?

Interesting that Sonakshi is getting more screentime in RR. I was actually wondering about that when I watched Vikramarkudu. Dunno if you've seen it, there's like 45 minutes in the second half without the female lead at all.

Anyway, it's a perfect role for Akshay and I can't wait!

Note from Filmi Girl:

I love Bollywood - and all the ridiculous things that happen in Bollywood - but it doesn't mean that I can't occasionally make fun of various celebrities and films.

If you don't like my sense of humor, please just move on by - Trolls are not appreciated and nasty comments will be deleted.
