Thursday Gossip!

Yes, it's Thursday! One more day to go before Housefull 2 drops! WOO!

I'm hoping we get to see the Rowdy Rathore trailer on the big screen before the show but who knows...

3 is still playing at my theater, too. I recommend checking it out if you get a chance. Definitely my favorite film of the year so far. (Yes, including Kahaani!)

Today's gossip post is a TRAILER-PA-LOOZA!

* Lolo talks Dangerous Isshq.

The 37-year-old portrays a careerist woman who belongs to glamorous world and is madly in love with her husband Rohan Thakral. "I don't want to know about my past.... I am too scared to know about it. But I do believe in it. I have met friends who had gone for regress and it all true. In this film you will know what all a person will go through regression," she said.

* Lolo also tries to get us to remember that woman-centered films have been around a long time. Well, Lolo probably wouldn't use "long time ago" to describe Fiza etc. but it feels like that.

* Vidya Balan is in the running for Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People of 2012. Vote for her here.

* Saswata Chatterjee is baffled at his sudden notoriety for playing Bob Biswas.

No one dreamt the role would be such a hit. "Nobody knows when they sign a film that the role they are playing will be a huge hit. Even Sujoy didn't know that Kahaani would be such a big hit. It had such a low budget according to Bollywood standards. Nobody can say 'I am going to make a hit movie'. That is the interesting part of our career."

* Shahrukh is taking his brand ambassadorship of Bengal seriously and is promoting Prayag Film City in West Midnapore, opening next week.

* My Arshad Warsi will be directing a film. He's been talking about this for a while. Should be an interesting project. Aamir always gets called the "perfectionist" but I think Warsi could give him a run for his money.

(Speaking of, the Perfectionist allegedly has an army of people to keep things from leaking from the set of his TV show.)

* Paoli Dam is generating a lot of buzz for her nude scenes in Hate Story. This is actually kind of an interesting piece...

Paoli, who has worked with directors such as Buddhadeb Dasgupta in the TV series Gangaur, Rituparno Ghosh in Shob Charitra Kalponik and Goutam Ghosh in Kalbela and Moner Manush, raised the hackles of conservatives with her full frontal nude scene in Chhatrak. Interestingly, most of the shock stemmed out of the fact that she was shown as the receiver of pleasure in an explicit oral scene. In Indian cinema, the woman's role in intimacy has always been a matter of dissent. Should she get as good as she gives? Should she sacrifice her needs for those of her husband? In a land that worships the genitalia of Lord Shiva, the popular opinion is condescendingly protective of the woman: It would ruin her career and typecast her as someone who is easy to persuade to shed her clothes.

* Javed Akhtar talks Zanjeer remake.

"Any film can be remade provided that it is better that the original. If you are not making it good then where is the need of making it? Ram Gopal Varma remade Sholay. He shouldn't have done that, but it is a free country...," the 67-year-old told reporters at the Vidhu Vinod Chopra film festival."

Well... in theory, yes, I agree with Javed-sir, but I will have to say that Zanjeer is not an untouchable classic like Sholay. It's still a good film but my hang-up on remaking it has more to do with the fact that the plot and story were very much of their time. Would it strike the same chord now?

Also, Salim-Javed unite to demand money from the Zanjeer remake producers.

* Bipasha! Bipasha! To return to her roots and do an item in John's Shootout at Wadala. That will be something to look forward to. They must be pulling out all the stops if they're willing to pay Bips' fees.

Trailer time!

The hideously dull looking Teri Meri Kahaani aka Hum Tum in Three Time Periods (c) Get Filmy aka I Didn't Know They Had Plastic Surgery in 1910.

All I care about in this trailer is Shahid rocking his kurta. DAYUM, BOY!

Department trailer. Seems fairly standard for RGV... maybe I'll check it out, maybe not.

And for Grandmaster, which looks like the kind of mystery film that's perfect for watching on DVD on a Sunday night while drinking a big pot of herbal tea and eating popcorn.
