Tuesday Gossip!

Just a reminder, folks, I'll be off tomorrow through MONDAY visiting my grandparents and daily gossip will be on hiatus during that time. I will probably pop in to post some reviews and other treats (because I love blogging!) so feel free to check back but daily news will be on hiatus.

And now... ON WITH THE SHOW!

* The Hollywood Reporter takes on Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu...

This is not to say that the film is original. Supplanting Bollywood film clich├ęs with Hollywood ones — including a naughty granny and two montages too many — Batra falls into a formulaic trap on several occasions. But the way he depicts the growing closeness between Rahul and Riana is sincere, and the way their relationship ends up is definitely a stretch for a Hindi film: for Rahul and Riana, finding a real friend can be just as meaningful as finding Mr. Right.

Who are all these people who think that a) character-based films are something "new" for Hindi films and b) EVERY MOVIE ENDS WITH A ROMANTIC REUNION?! I just watched a Kannada film from 2010 packed to the gills with low brow humor that ended with the hero and heroine as friends... for love of God, reviewers, can you just stop with the generalizing already? Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu is only something "new and fresh" if your baseline of "normal" is Dil To Pagal Hai.

* A slideshow of psycho lovers in Tamil films!!

* Shahrukh Khan is now the brand ambassador for... Bengal. Um, what? Sandip Roy has some advice for him.

Bengalis, being Bengalis, have already been sniffy about their chief minister’s choice as the new hope of West Bengal. Mamata Banerjee could have chosen Mithun, a Bollywood star AND a Bengali. Anyway what’s wrong with our very own Soumitra Chatterjee, the intellectual cineastes say huffily. At least he can recite Tagore beautifully. And he is Ray-blessed already. What better brand could there be?

* Famous porn theater in Jackson Heights to become a Desi Grocery Store.

* Is Jodi Breakers an illegal copy? The producers of Heartbreakers think so.

* Bebo is doing two items in Heroine. Take that Bandar-car! You can't keep the filmi out of Bebo!

* Anjana Sukhani admits she shifted focus from Sandalwood after Maleyali Jyotheyali.

And a little Valentine's Day "Mohabbat" for you, courtesy of Ek Deewana Tha.

Note from Filmi Girl:

I love Bollywood - and all the ridiculous things that happen in Bollywood - but it doesn't mean that I can't occasionally make fun of various celebrities and films.

If you don't like my sense of humor, please just move on by - Trolls are not appreciated and nasty comments will be deleted.
