Tuesday Gossip!

Today in gossip - Catiness abounds! Also, some new song picturizations and a couple rundowns of 2011 in film...

* Yesteryear's actress Kalpana Mohan, who I remember from Professor, is in hospital.

* Check out the list of top grossing films of the year! I think Singham was the most impressive with the 35 crore budget leading to over 100 crore gross!

* The jury is still out on whether Don 2 is the success Shahrukh was waiting for.

"It's particularly bad in single screens, which is important for a film to become a hit. Making profit on the movie seems impossible at this point in time," he said.

Sharing his opinion is the Mumbai-based head honcho of a multiplex chain. Declining to be named, he pointed out that Tuesday's numbers would be even lower.

"The weekend numbers are below expectations," he observes. "Thanks to satellite and music rights, Reliance might break even. But making money on Don 2, to borrow from the words of the protagonist, 'mushkil hi nahin, naamumkin lagta hai'," he concludes.

* And Shahrukh's upcoming film directed by Yash Chopra, co-starring Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif, filming very soon... probably won't be the one to goose his box office numbers, either. For this reason:

Mumbai Mirror has learnt that Aditya Chopra will also be present on the sets of the film, which will be a signature Yash Chopra love story.

Anything Aditya Chopra micromanages turns to shit. I'm surprised we have already been reading planted stories of Kat and Anu starving themselves for the double bikini scene that pervy Adi will want to make the centerpiece of the promotional campaign.

* Here is a useful chart if you ever want to get some star power at a function.

Rate card: Approx Charges per appearance

Kareena Kapoor - Rs 50 lakh
Katrina Kaif - Rs 50 lakh
Priyanka Chopra - Rs 45 lakh
Deepika Padukone - Rs 25 lakh
Sonam Kapoor - Rs 25 lakh
Bipsha Basu - Rs 25 lakh
Anushka Sharma - Rs 18 to 20 lakh
Vidya Balan - Rs 15 to 20 lakh
Neha Dhupia - Rs 5 to 6 lakh
Prachi Desai - Rs 4 to 5 lakh

* Beth gives her rundown of 2011 in film.

* These three friends on a trek to make the world's longest cab ride make a cameo (taxi bhi) in Agent Vinod.

* One of the many reasons I love Sandalwood... women-centered films from actresses like Namitha and Mallika Sherawat.

* Who cares about the latest dumb Hollywood starlet/robo-hunk headed to Bollywood... YOKO ONO will be visiting India. YOKO ONO! YOKO ONO! What a lady she is! I would love to be a fly on the wall if she ever met Jaya Bachchan.

* Okay, that makes THREE zombie films out of Mumbai next year. And not a single one from the Bhatts' horror factory!! Maybe they are waiting to see how well these do before committing... or maybe zombies are too upscale?

* I could make such an inappropriate response to the first line of this piece.

Sahil Shroff surprised everyone when he bagged a role in Don 2.

Hmm... a debutant male model lands a role in a Shahrukh Khan film... how "surprising"!

Oops! I guess I couldn't resist.

* Karan Johar signs on Ruchi Narain to direct for Dharma.

* Priyanka Chopra's PR team fights back against the rumors that PC is a raging bitch.

* Pasupathy will be seen in the next Mani Ratnam film!

Now let's hit some song promos!

From one of my least-anticipated films of 2012 comes "Aunty-Ji," which combines a wet-noodle 50s rock sound with inane lyrics and a crap melody. The picturization is nothing great either, appearing to be the "clean" version of the club song where filmmakers trying for "Hollywood realism" insert a song for no reason than they've been told to do so.

From a film I would really like to be anticipating but can't because Priyanka Chopra is such a terrible actress is "O Saiyaan" - a pretty song ruined by the visuals of Piggy Chops unconvincing fake-crying that suspiciously doesn't ruin her make-up. Nothing says, "I'm just a simple girl" like lightening foundation and a couple nose jobs.

And, finally, from a film I am anticipating... "Hosana." Cute song and cute picturization!

Excited about the Mani Ratnam news ... Pasupathy is absolutely brilliant. He had me in tears in Majaa and Kuselan. Was Virumandi his first release?

Note from Filmi Girl:

I love Bollywood - and all the ridiculous things that happen in Bollywood - but it doesn't mean that I can't occasionally make fun of various celebrities and films.

If you don't like my sense of humor, please just move on by - Trolls are not appreciated and nasty comments will be deleted.
