Mr. Singh International Turban Pride 2009 Fashion Show

I came across these photos in my search for Bollywood promotional shots and thought I would share them - especially for Briyanshu!

I love the slightly wild and undomesticated look of the models - here is a style of masculinity that is not particularly appreciated in Western media, which, when it notices Sikhs at all, either confuses them with Arabs or shows them as taxi drivers and technical support.

I kinda go for the hairy type myself, so this was fun! (I especially liked the first & last pics, yay!) I don't believe I've ever actually seen the ceremonial dagger out on display like that before.

Oh, my!
There is something kinda perversely wildish and sensual about them, no?

This I gotta say - how refreshing to see body hair on the men!! I'm so over the entire-torso-waxing of the Bollywood stars that I was delighted to see some chest and underarm hair..!

(I ask you, what's wrong with a little underarm hair? Or a little love trail..?)

Awwww! This was a great article :D Being a Sikh, I really feel that Punjabis are not portrayed in the best manner when it comes to Bollywood cinema or even the rest of the Western world. It was nice to see someone write kind things about us :D Thanks! :)

Note from Filmi Girl:

I love Bollywood - and all the ridiculous things that happen in Bollywood - but it doesn't mean that I can't occasionally make fun of various celebrities and films.

If you don't like my sense of humor, please just move on by - Trolls are not appreciated and nasty comments will be deleted.

xoxo Filmi Girl
