Friday Post: ROAR.

The big story today is obviously THE PEOPLE'S MAN!

*ROAR*

So, we know what my favorite part was.

Here are a few caps of the cast!

Is that Mukal Dev I spy?

AND THE PEOPLE'S MAN!

Says Mr. Salman Khan:

"I stand for justice every say. I consider myself as a common man as I do things which a common man does in day-to-day life. Like I ride bicycle, rickshaw, I prefer taking fresh air while travelling in car, etc. Whatever I am today...a superstar is because of my fans. If they wouldn't have loved my first film Maine Pyaar Kiya, then I wouldn't be here," Khan said.

Preach it, brother.

A whole movie based on the idea of "pay it forward" with goonda bashing and Tabu? Even if this movie is a hot mess--especially if this movie is hot mess--I plan on enjoying it to the utmost!

Disappointing review of Jackpot from Shubhra Gupta. Apparently Naseer does not chew the scenery, which is just a waste. Does nobody understand how to make low budget fun anymore?

A little way into Jackpot, I heard a character say: "Yeh plot bada complex hai (this plot is very complex)." My heart sank. This is not what I expected from a film featuring a very pretty porn star, a buffed-up stud, and a thesp in jazzy threads. It should have been simple, fast in-and-out, grimy fun. What I got was stretched-out lameness, for an hour and a half.

Thanks for taking one for the team, Shubra!

Okay, here is our consensus list of "best" films for 2013. Now to see how closely all the outlets track to it.

But I have to say that it's disappointing to see Special 26 all up in this because quite frankly it was a mess of a film and very boring in places. Shows you how much these guys value "not-Bollywood" as "good."

Shahrukh Khan is Forbes India's Celebrity 100 List.

Katrina Kaif is the highest ranking woman at #9.

----

A fluffy paid article on Shahid Kapoor in TOI where he gets to say that R…Rajkumar was liked just fine TYVM but it includes cute photos!

----

If Remo Fernandes hates film music so much why is he making them? For cash? Don't do us any favors, buddy.

Put some light on the pop culture songs in India, especially the decade of 80s and 90s…

The main thing is that there was a mainstream pop and rock culture in India in those years, which is dead today. And what's more, each artiste had his/her own distinctive style and sound, which is as it should be. Very soon, though, Bollywood noticed this new sound, and swallowed up most of these artistes, who readily gave themselves up full time to celluloid.

And, okay, before you hit me with the fair point of: "Whatever, Filmi Girl, you just hate Priyanka Chopra."

Can I just bitch a little more about how boring her "1970s cabaret girl" look is? I mean, really? You get the opportunity to do a 1970s cabaret and the costuming and sets look like a contemporary second tier faux-classy casino show.

All these films that want to borrow from the masala of the past without fully engaging with it just kill me. Either they go overboard with the kitsch and you get Aamir Khan thrusting his spangled crotch in your face or it's all done half-assed and about as mall-shopper classy as a Victoria's Secret ramp show.

To have the chance to do something as giddy and fun as this:

Or as out of control sexy as Bindu popping out of a glitter suit:

And giving us an underwear model "sexy face" and a dress that JLo might have worn circa 2003? MEGA-YAWN.

(Now you can say it.)

----

Trailer for Hasee Toh Phasee--I could go either way on this. It could be fun or it could be horribly boring.

Sorry, still like Special 26 inspite of the giant plotholes and EPIC STRIDING. The character stuff is too cute for words, as are the polo shirts.

Jai Ho teaser didn't do much for me (too much emphasis on the parts of Salman's persona that don't interest me), but Danny is perfectly cast in the Prakash Raj role, and the action scenes are definitely an improvement on the original.

Note from Filmi Girl:

I love Bollywood - and all the ridiculous things that happen in Bollywood - but it doesn't mean that I can't occasionally make fun of various celebrities and films.

If you don't like my sense of humor, please just move on by - Trolls are not appreciated and nasty comments will be deleted.
