Monday Post: Back to work...

Verdict in the Salman Khan case has been postponed until June 24th.

For those confused about the IPL scandal, The Telegraph has a rundown of Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kunder's history.

----

Manna Dey has been hospitalized.

----

A sad farewell to Priyanka Chopra's father, who passed away from cancer.

----

And a really sad twist in our Jiah Khan chapter... her mother released what amounts to a suicide note. The letter is extremely troubling and emotional so please don't click on the link if you aren't prepared.

Suraj Pancholi comes off looking like quite the asshole. As does his daddy.

Will Salman Khan continue with Suraj's launch?

(Photos from a prayer meet for Jiah, attended by Aamir Khan, who apparently spoke quite movingly about the young actress.

----

Happy New Year to start in September.

----

Javed Akhtar has been appointed vice-president of the International Confederation Of Authors and Composers Society. They must have gotten word of the Battle for Zanjeer, which is still raging on.

Even Farhan has weighed in.

----

Bebo turns down Zoya Akhtar's brother-sister film now that Ranbir has backed out. Who wants to get cast as Ranveer's sister? On the one hand, you'd be taking yourself out of the running for future casting opposite Ranveer but on the other maybe he wouldn't hit on you as much if you were playing his sister.

----

Kay Kay Menon talks about his art and it's amazing.

Though he has no fascinating for playing grey characters, Menon says he enjoys being an actor as it gives him a chance to tap different emotions from within. "I don't exactly relate to grey characters. All the characters I play are within me otherwise it would be fake. Every human being has a plethora of emotions. As an actor, we are lucky to take them out and portray onscreen. But in normal life you can't do that. That is the charm of leading an actor's life," he said.

He gives great interviews.

----

Akshay's Grazing Goat Productions has signed on boxer Vijender Singh for a film. There are no drug tests to be an actor...

Sequel to Namaste London?

----

Winner of the mysterious New York Citizens Achievement Award and Steven Spielberg's Best Friend Madhur Bandar-car has been given cash to make another film. Why? I don't know. Maybe somebody needs a tax write-off.

----

Images from the Lootera audio launch...

I love Sona's face in that second one. It says, "If you don't move your hand from my ass, I will smack you."

----

The BBC covers Carmen Live... with Abhay Deol. It looks like it was interesting. ----

RIP Dr. Chopra. All Priyanka's anecdotes about him made him sound like a really nice guy.

Ranveer is so out of his league in dealing w/ Sona, and to judge by the interviews, he knows it.

Between the Namastey London 2 announcement and Akki going around saying he wasn't doing Shaukeen, I was feeling quite benevolent towards him this past Friday. ;)

Sorry to heart about Priyanka's father. RIP.

Ranveer seems so antipathic and his smile looks fake in the photos.

I agree with Karena. It would have been great if Ranbir said OK but alas.

I've really enjoyed your thoughtful coverage of Jiah's tragic death, thank you. I don't know if you've seen this yet, but I thought of your columns as soon as I read this, the comments by "film historian S.M.M. Ausaja" made me frustrated and angry,

@Stuart As I'm sure everybody noticed, Jiah's death really hit me hard. The media spotlight is cruel... even in death, poor Jiah still can't catch a break.

And, you're 100% right. That quote is horrible! Which reminds ME that I saw Deepika giving a quote that she has had an comparitively easy time in Bollywood: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/entertainment/bollywood/news-interviews/I-havent-struggled-in-Mumbai-Deepika-Padukone/articleshow/20518637.cms

And I was actually surprised to see that Deepika showed up at the prayer meet for Jiah. And pleased, somehow. That even a big name star didn't forget her co-star from a few years ago.

Note from Filmi Girl:

I love Bollywood - and all the ridiculous things that happen in Bollywood - but it doesn't mean that I can't occasionally make fun of various celebrities and films.

If you don't like my sense of humor, please just move on by - Trolls are not appreciated and nasty comments will be deleted.
