Saturday Gossip: Really looking forward... to that new Atif Aslam song!

GOOD MORNING EVERYBODY! It's still kind of grey and icky here but the weather is supposed to perk up. Maybe the weather will get a kick out of all the horrible reviews for Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola because I know I sure have... also the horrible box office numbers.

Now, let's hit the news!

The trials and tribulations of being Sanjay Dutt.

Says the friend, “Baba fears going back to jail. He can’t take that setback now when he has two little babies to take care of. He has been restless. On Sunday he flew in a friend’s private jet to visit a holy shrine in Nanded. Baba has never believed in visiting temples and religious places. This is probably the first time he’s doing so. He is more anxious this time about the court’s verdict than he was during any other period of his lengthy trial because he knows the mood of the moment among the people, government and judiciary of the land is to not let anyone, specially from the privileged classes, get away with any crime, alleged or proven.”

Jeez! What is it about the public and their wanting to punish people who commit crimes?!

Kiran Rao, Karan Johar, and some other guy talk about Bollywood and the Oscars.

The Oscars are arguably the most prestigious cinematic awards. What factors need to be looked at for a Bollywood film, or any Indian film, to compete there?

Karan: I think there are many factors that go into it. There's studio support, the required infrastructure, there's also planning - lots of such factors determine an Oscar nomination. You can't simply make a great film and expect it to be nominated. The positioning of your film worldwide, so that it gets attention, also matters. India is very capable of making the right kind of film, at least in terms of content and soul, but I think somebody really strong needs to back that film and take it forward. It's definitely a possibility, but it will need a lot of work.

I'm so baffled as to how Mugdha Godse keeps kicking around Bollywood. The only explanation I can come up with isn't very flattering. Apparently she's replacing Neha Dhupia in the Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster sequel… and because she's not a dancer, this means we'll be seeing a lot of posing and "sexy face." Great.

Why don't these directors hire actual dancers for these items? Wouldn't we all rather be watching Maryam? Or Isha Sharvani? Or some other non-moddle?

And speaking of things I hate, Priyanka Chopra has been hinting that she's cast in Farah's Khan's Happy New Year.

The only good thing - if this happens - is that it will provide months of SRK/PC/Gauri wank in the media. Who knows... maybe Gauri can finally get that Real Housewives of Mumbai spin off that we all so desperately want to see.

Trailer for Kadal, which looks interesting!

Trailer for Jayantabhai Ki Love Story - the comments on the youtube are hilarious and are mostly about how much we're all looking forward... to the new Atif Aslam song.

What is it about bad reviews of a film which doesn't appeal to you that gives you a kick?

Note from Filmi Girl:

I love Bollywood - and all the ridiculous things that happen in Bollywood - but it doesn't mean that I can't occasionally make fun of various celebrities and films.

If you don't like my sense of humor, please just move on by - Trolls are not appreciated and nasty comments will be deleted.
