Friday Gossip! Love triangle edition!

IT'S FRIDAY and no new releases... boo. It's too bad Ajay couldn't have pushed Son of Sardaar up by two weeks.

* The big rumor today is VIDYA BALAN IS GETTING MARRIED... say the media with no supporting evidence.

* Unpacking the state of the Tamil film industry in 2012.

According to a journalist working for a business daily in the city, a big hero Kollywood film is only 30 per cent of a superstar Bollywood film in business prospect. But Tamil film producers brag that their films cost Rs 100 crore plus. Director Shankar’s new film with Vikram as hero titled I, which is now being shot in China, is said to have a budget of Rs 100 crores. The only Tamil film that has ever crossed Rs 100 crore in collections was Rajinikanth’s Enthiran (Robot in Hindi). It looks like ‘I’ will have to collect more than Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger to break even.

* Business of Cinema runs down the current state of the Yash Rasj-Ajay Devgn feud with a bonus appearance from Akshay and Aamir Khan.

As reported by Mumbai Mirror today morning, “Producers of Aamir Khan starrer Talaash, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar have asked single screen exhibitors to allow a two-week run for their venture that releases on November 30. This will affect Akshay Kumar’s ‘Khiladi 786′ that hits the theatres a week later.”

Does this mean we're going to start seeing schedules booked two years in advance for prime weekends?

* It looks like Jab Tak Hai Jaan will release as scheduled but a final ruling has not come down.

* Salman has come out in favor of Son of Sardaar... and Sona looks adorable in leggings and a leather jacket. (DID I MENTION I LOVE HER?)

* Anushka Sharma talks Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

The film at the outset grabbed attention for the first-time pairing of Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. Do you worry that you may be sidelined?

No, not at all. When you are offered a movie, you know the script and the role. Nobody blindfolds you into a film.

The nature of Yashji's film has always been a triangle. His stories are basically about the relations between three characters and how they are interlinked with each other. Take Dil Toh Pagal Hai or Veer Zaara. You can't say that Rani Mukerji or Karisma Kapoor was given a smaller role. The strength of the roles in his films is that they are always equal.

* Will Katrina be working with Milan Luthria?

* A group of prisoners will dance for Amitabh Bachchan at the Kolkata International Film Festival.

The eight-minute performance by the troupe will be an excerpt from Rabindranath Tagore's dance drama 'Valmiki Pratibha' and would be directed by dancer and choreographer Alakananda Roy who has trained the inmates in a process of their gradual return to the mainstream.

* AND the Big B's image is being used to keep kids from joining the Maoists.

* Here's a nice little spat between Kunal Kohli and Ayushmann Khurrana...

Ayushmann claims that he had signed the film on the condition that he would be paired opposite an A-list actress. When Kunal later thought of casting some not-so established actresses, Ayushmann decided to opt out of the project irking Kunal no end.

Smart move, Ayushmann... stay away from the box office poison man.
