Wednesday News: Checking Your SMSes Edition...

Hey, guys! Sorry about the massive politics spam on twitter last night but it is that time again in America. I'm the rest of the world thinks we're crazy with the 18 month electoral cycle but... we make everything SUPER SIZE here. Burgers, cars, political campaigns...

NOW! On to news!

* Cute picture of a very young Bebo as the Jagran Post recounts how she attended Saif's first wedding as a 10-year old.

* And a nice slideshow of wedding photos but, damn, if Gauri and SRK aren't looking leathery.

* Blame is starting to fly amongst the Aiyyaa team. An unnamed "pivotal player" has come out saying director Sachin Kundalkar didn't clear the final release with the producers.

Says our source, "It is customary and mandatory for directors to show the final cut to the producers Viacom 18. That's how the new corporotized system of filmmaking works in Bollywood. For better or for worse the director is no longer the final authority on how a film should be edited. The version of Aiyyaa that was shown Viacom 18 in the presence of the film's co-producer Anurag Kashyap and Rani Mukherji (who incidentally took extremely active in the making, production, post-production of the film) was very different...I'd say radically different from what finally went into the theatres on Friday."

You guys know I love a film that aims high and flops - I cannot WAIT to see this.

* The police are checking Rani's brother's phone for incriminating evidence of his misbehavior.

* And speaking of "misbehaving" dudes, Shiney Ahuja requests an early hearing of his apeal of the guilty verdict he received for raping his maid because it is affecting his career.

..."so that the uncertainty that looms large over his personal life and career may be dispensed and justice be granted."

Um... Shiney, dude, it's not the guilty verdict that is affecting your career. You were going nowhere BEFORE you were caught assaulting a young woman in your employ. You old and washed up and, to quote the Internet: no1curr

* Sonam Kapoor is on a mission to make Banarasi hand-woven saris trendy.

If I remember correctly, she's there filming with Dhanush... That should be a good film. I've grown to like Sonam (on screen).

* Vijay is keeping an eye of Puri Jagannadh's Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu and if it does well he may be remaking it!

* Ayushmann Khurrana continues the unnecessary trend of actors singing for themselves. Once in a while it's a nice touch but, honestly, 99% of the time I'd rather just hear Sukhwinder Singh or Sonu Niigaam... or maybe some new singer who is waiting for a break.

* The six heroines of Grand Masti have been revealed. Why does that seem like way too many ladies for the likes of Aftab Shivdasani, Vivek Oberoi, and Riteish Deshmukh? Still, I'm happy to see Maryam Zakaria get some screen time! She's a pistol!

* NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! PC to ruin another film I had wanted to see. She's been cast in Gunday with my boy Ranveer Singh and the promising Arjun Kapoor. Sigh. Couldn't they have found somebody else? I hate Piggy Chops so much. Well, maybe she'll bring back her "retard" voice for the film...

* Like how about Genelia D'Souza? Rumors are flying that she's set to make a comeback in in South!

* Read a piece from the LA Times about why Indian and Chinese film companies are moving to Hollywood.

Hollywood studios for many years have farmed out basic visual effects and animation work to India and other countries to take advantage of a pool of low-cost workers skilled in software engineering and computer graphics. But well-heeled foreign companies such as Reliance are no longer waiting for work to be parceled out to them from thousands of miles away. They are setting up shop in Hollywood, opening their own studios or buying companies that have established relationships with directors and filmmakers.

* Oh ho!!! Mohan Lal to play hedge fund mogul Raj Rajaratnam? I hope so!

Hi FG. I love your blog I really really do but please please stop using the word retard. It hits me like a ton of bricks every time.

Keep blogging!

My apologies, Coffee Queen!! I was using it ironically - hence the "quotes" - because of Bastard Keith's comment that he found the voice she used in Barfi sounded the very stereotypical "retard" voice that kids use if they are bully.

I try to be conscious of things like that but tone doesn't really come across online... so, sorry if you were offended!!

Hi Filmi Girl. Saif and Amrita eloped to get married. Their parents weren't even at the wedding so I highly doubt Kareena was there.

@HK LOL!! If that's so then the newspaper wrote a funny little piece of fiction... XD

Note from Filmi Girl:

I love Bollywood - and all the ridiculous things that happen in Bollywood - but it doesn't mean that I can't occasionally make fun of various celebrities and films.

If you don't like my sense of humor, please just move on by - Trolls are not appreciated and nasty comments will be deleted.
