Thursday Gossip!! Dhoom 4 edition...

Yes! It's Thursday! The day my theater updates its listings for the week. So, what am I going to see this weekend? STUDENT OF THE MOTHER-FUCKING YEAR!!! I just a need a foam finger that says "Karan Johar No. 1" on it and I'll be all set.

Ah, but Dhoom 4, you ask! Well, one of my favorite blowhards tweeted a picture of himself claiming just that. Now, who could it be...

* Another Saifeena Wedding Slide Show!

* And here is a snap of Bebo and Manish!

* Ah yes... here we go... SON OF SARDAAR VS JAB TAK HAI JAAN... and a post applying that battleground filter to a seemingly innocuous message from Ajay to Sona.

Sonakshi recently tweeted the image of letter received and it's content reads: 'Dear Sonakshi, We at Ajay Devgn Ffilms, take this opportunity to thank you for the co-operation extended by you at the time of the shooting of our film "Son of Sardaar". We are glad to inform you that we have completed the shooting successfully and the film is ready for the release on 13th November 2012. We appreciate your professionalism and looking forward for a long association.'

"Seemingly" innocuous, folks...

As per insiders, while this could well be genuine appreciation for Sonakshi, there is also a clear message for Yash Raj-SRK camp that there won't be any backing off now at any stage.

Right. This could just be a message to Sona because Team SOS is pretty sure their audience and the JTHJ audiences won't have much overlap so they aren't worried but where would the fun in that be?

* And now "Mehangai" has been cleared for release.

The Delhi High Court Wednesday allowed the release of the song 'Mehengai' from upcoming Bollywood movie 'Chakravyuh', saying that in the contextual setting of the movie the 'song is not defamatory'.

The court suspended a single judge bench's order restraining the release of the song of the yet-to-be released film on a defamation suit filed by shoemaker Bata. The petitioner objected to the use of its name in the lyrics related to inflation.

* Rajkumar Hirani is redrafting P.K. because of similarities to OMG.

What this means is an inevitable delay in shooting. P.K.’s first schedule was set to kick off in October with Anushka in Italy, but as of now, that stands cancelled. “The delay is because he (Hirani) is reworking the script. In all likelihood, the film will now start only by December-end or January next year,” adds the insider.

* Mohanlal is getting around! First Hollywood and now John Abraham!

Instead of going for a regular commercial, star studded cast, John expressed a wish to work alongside veteran South actor Mohanlal in Jaffna. John, half Malayali himself, said that he would love to work with Mohanlal as there was much that he could learn from him.

Jaffna, a political thriller based on the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in Sri Lanka is being helmed by director Shoojit Sircar. While the main cast of the film hasn’t been finalised yet, John has already roped in another actor from down South – Leena Maria who has done a string of critically acclaimed films.

* Sridevi is willing to do more films!!

After English Vinglish what kind of roles would you like to play? Would you stick to women-centric films, or are you open to doing full-fledged commercial films as well?

I never thought about it seriously, but I will do any interesting role that will suit my personality, my age. But I have to be comfortable in that role.

* Meet Meesha Shafi, who is starring opposite Farhan Akhtar in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.

* More from the Student of the Year debutant who is not a star child.

DP: So what do you cherish the most when it comes to friendship?
SM: SOTY talks about how friendship takes a back seat when you are working. It's relatable. In fact, my friends are complaining right now that I am too busy to give them time. I am so mentally exhausted that I don't feel like talking to my parents also. Sometimes I lose patience too (laughs). Friendships take a toll, always, at some point or the other.

* Oh, yes, Jackky Bhagnani, please. Give us your opinions. And then start a blog like Mimoh.

Your character Rajveer seems a lot like how you are in real life- coming from a rich family, someone who loves fast cars, dancing etc. So was it easier playing such a character?

Yes Rajveer is very close to how I am in real life but like in the film, if I had to also go all out for the love of my life, I would do it without blinking an eye-lid.

* I want to think MSN illustrated this article on Neil Nitin Mukesh's new film with the derpiest picture possible.

"For all those who are asking, 'Ishqeria' is the name of the film I'm shooting in Mussoorie. It's a simple Mussoorie-based love story," Neil tweeted.

I don't know who was asking but perhaps in response to this tweet?

Neha S ‏@neha_sayed @NeilNMukesh ur like the flop version of hrithik..hw come no movie after players

What? No updates on Dhoom 4?

* The times aren't just a-changing, they've already changed. Madhuri dumps her long time manager for a professional agency.

* Ruh-roh... prostitution scandal with Shahrukh's KKR cheerleaders.

* Anurag Kashyap has some advice:

“Today, larger chunk of the audience is under the age of 35, who prefer watching movies or listening to songs online. Filmmakers and producers should quickly adapt to the oncoming change and cater to audience via this space,” Kashyap said.

The other part of this article is kind of misleading just judging by the title and the pull quote used. It says Kashyap tells filmmakers to "grow up" and not break the flow of films with songs but that isn't what he actually says in the quotes they pulled. He says Westerners don't like to be pulled out of the narrative into another space and that's true but I suspect the reason a lot of Westerners don't like it is because they aren't used to watching films in that way and so they find it jarring. It's like how if you are only used to eating American cheese, a nice ripe camembert might taste disgusting. HOWEVER once you get a taste for camembert, the subtle flavors come to life.
