Wednesday Gossip!

Raj Kapoor in London at the British Film Institute and in New York at the Museum of Modern Art.

Are you in Dubai? Go and see Arshad Warsi on Saturday! (No, really - go and squee at him on my behalf.)

Today in gossip... Shahrukh admits Ra.One could have been better and other tidbits!

* My favorite news of the day... NEW FILM FROM Sudipto Chattopadhyay who directed Pankh, which I loved. This one is "loosely based on" Shobba De, who will be played by Raveena Tandon. Why aren't I watching this right now?

* No surprise - interviewing public relations professionals reveals nothing.

I ask Dale is it true that stars bring up sensitive issues to garner attention, case in example ShahRukh Khan being detained at an airport near to the release of his film, My name is Khan or Emraan Hashmi complaining of religious racism at play when he wanted to buy a house in a swanky Hindu- majority area. He answers, '' the truth or falsity is not established in these controversies, so commenting on that is a bit dicey''.

* Video of Bipasha Basu's birthday party leaked; the Internet is unimpressed.

However, the camerawork and the sequences are so well edited that many on YouTube have commented that this is certainly the work of a professional and that Basu herself leaked this video online.

Srinu5069 commented: “A clever and well-known marketing technique in the West, now started in India as well."

* Read about all the people working behind the scenes with Bollywood stars.

A production executive associated with a number of hits tells us that Rs 25,000 is the minimum amount paid per day to staff members. "But that's for the most economically priced actors. However, when it comes to stars, their staff costs the producers Rs 50,000 to Rs 70,000 per day," he points out, declining to be named.

* Does Ranveer Singh have a twitter? I thought this was fake. Apparently he tweeted a picture of Sonakshi in Lootera.

* Jackie Chan in a Tamil film?

* And Delhi Belly remake in Tamil?

* Shahrukh Khan thinks he marketed Ra.One just fine but wishes that he had made the film better. Sigh.

"It's very important because a film like 'RA.One' lends itself a little more, it's for children, it's superhero and stuff. I wish I had made it a little better because people started jumping on my back, 'Itna market kiya aur aisa picture banaya tumne (You marketed it so much, and made a film like this)', So, I got a little waylaid on that," he added.

Trailer for Prakash Raaj's directorial debut Dhoni... which like a real tear-jerker. Also, am I crazy or was that Murali Sharma towards the end there?

Did you read the full article about SRK's comments on Ra.One, FG? The way he wanted to make it "better" was to have "better" special effects and better marketing. Getfilmy has a blog post about it today.

Hey FG,

Are you going to watch Nanban/Vettai this weekend?

I am pleasantly surprised that Vettai is getting an AMC Theatre release here in the Bay Area.... def. a first for tamil cinema....

Note from Filmi Girl:

I love Bollywood - and all the ridiculous things that happen in Bollywood - but it doesn't mean that I can't occasionally make fun of various celebrities and films.

If you don't like my sense of humor, please just move on by - Trolls are not appreciated and nasty comments will be deleted.
