Saturday Gossip!

Above the cut news! Read about the Razzies of Bollywood!

Organizers of the Golden Kela awards, which last year awarded the Worst Actor award to Shah Rukh Khan, say no Bollywood star or film maker shows up to claim their prizes.

This week, film maker Anurag Kashyap tweeted he would collect his Ghanta award in person if his film "That Girl in Yellow Boots" wins in the "holier-than-thou" category.

Vote for the Golden Kelas here! Vote for the Ghanta Awards here!

Time for your Agneepath news!

* Agneepath breaks Bodyguard record for first day collections.

* Karan Johar went out of his way to appease the Censor Board by toning down the violence in Agneepath and making Rishi Kapoor redub some dialogues.

* Priyanka Chopra has been crowing about the success of Agneepath like she had something to do with it, which is a bit rich considering that a) her role was (thankfully) edited down to very little and b) she is tagged in almost every review as the weak link.

Still, I suppose it has been a while since she's had a hit, so maybe the euphoria of being associated with a non-flop went to her tweeting fingers.

I like this tag ending, too: With Agneepath, Priyanka extends her huge popularity not just across multiplexes but across single screens as well. She is no doubt thrilled that Karan Johar thought of her for this pivotal role as it's her first out and out mass commercial entertainer.

Um... even if you only consider her films that didn't flop, what about Krrish? Or did the author block her role from his mind like I did.

* Hrithik Roshan held a special screening of Agneepath for his gay fans! That's so sweet!

* Oprah's recent visit sparked this article about the influx of Western celebrities to India in the wake of Eat, Pray, Love and Slumdog Millionaire.

In fact, poverty tourism itself has become quite the rage as visiting celebrities vie with one another to visit the ‘real’ India (you know, the one that featured in Slumdog Millionaire).

Cue, trips to deprived neighbourhoods, shanty towns, orphanages, crowded railway stations, even sleepy villages.

The entire entourage descends on the chosen spot, wearing horrified expressions, SPF factor 50 sunblock and baseball caps, clutching bottles of mineral water in their sanitised hands and trying very hard not to inhale.

* Dangerous Ishq goes to Cannes!

* Shabana Azmi and Pankaj Kapoor together in a Vishal Bhardwaj film.

* Singer Tochi Raina was refused entry at the Apsara Awards despite being nominated.

* And Veena Malik and her light bulb bra were snipped from the version of Gali Gali Mein Chor Hai shown to Anna Hazare.

Not trying to be mean, but Agneepath set a new opening day record by a whisker (beating Bodyguard), but it also set a record for the biggest second crash ever. Early reports indicate that the Saturday bookings are looking up from Friday. So let us see where it ends up. The Agneepath team nevertheless held a "success party" on the first day. :)

Aargh! I meant biggest second day crash ever.

(I wish there was an edit function.)

The crash was really abnormal, but then again it was a working day.

I hope it does well in the end because I think everyone involved with the film really deserves it (maybe except PC...). The acting was also phenomenal.

Note from Filmi Girl:

I love Bollywood - and all the ridiculous things that happen in Bollywood - but it doesn't mean that I can't occasionally make fun of various celebrities and films.

If you don't like my sense of humor, please just move on by - Trolls are not appreciated and nasty comments will be deleted.
