BEST ACTRESS

Priyanka Chopra for 7 Khoon Maaf
Vidya Balan for No One Killed Jessica [It would have been nice to see Rani nominated for this instead of Vidya twice...]

Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara
Sohail Sen for Mere Brother Kil Dulhan [My choice for winner. This soundtrack PWNED.]
Vishal-Shekhar for Ra.One [Might get the sympathy vote if SRK doesn't win anything else... because, seriously, this blew. I want to stab most of these songs in the neck until they die.]

BEST LYRICS

Gulzar for "Darling" from 7 Khoon Maaf
Irshad Kamil for "Naadaan Parindey" from Rockstar
Irshad Kamil for "Saadda Haq" from Rockstar

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for "Teri Meri" from Bodyguard
Shafqat Amanat Ali for "Dildaara" from Ra.One [aka the song that made everybody want to vomit]

[Here is where my ONLY gripe with these nominations comes in - WHERE THE FUCK IS ALI ZAFAR?! ARE YOU FOR SERIOUS FILMFARE? If not for Best Supporting Actor, then he should have been up here for "Madhubala."]

BEST PLAYBACK SINGER (FEMALE)

Alyssa Mendoza for "Khwabon Ke Parindey" from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara [She had my vote.]
Harshdeep Kaur for "Katiya Karun" from Rockstar
Rekha Bhardwaj and Usha Uthup for "Darling" from 7 Khoon Maaf
Shreya Ghoshal for "Teri Meri" from Bodyguard
Shreya Ghoshal for "Saibo" from Shor in the City

[All in all, this is such an INTERESTING field for Filmfare nominations - what a great year 2011 was!]

Did you take a look at who was hosting and performing at the award show? That might explain some of the nominations. :)

IF Vidya doesn't win the Best Actress Award, I'll be very pissed.

They have six Best Actor noms. They could easily have added Rani and Kalki (for Shaitan) to the Best Actress list. IMO, Katrina shouldn't have been on the list, but then, I also think SRK and Salman, especially the latter, don't belong on the Best Actor list. The Screen Awards noms are definitely stronger, but at least Ready and Ra. One weren't nominated for Best Film.

Chammak Challo nominated for best lyrics! Really?? The song which has lines like "Tu meri Chammak Challo, teri picture ka main hero, give it to me girl mujhko de do" ? Sigh! Even the music and technical awards of Filmfare are no longer unbiased and deserving :(

Even though I couldn't give a load of fetid dingo's kdneys for the awards, it was nice to Katrina get nominated for MBKD - she owned that movie. But Kalki for best supporting actress from ZNMD?! That's bizarre, given that the character was hideously caricatured, leaving her nothing to wrk with. I would have thought a female director could have drawn a more realistic female character, but she stuck Kalki with a thankless mess there. A largely empty, pretty movie that was unremarkable except for the cartoon shrew that Zoya had Kalki try to bring to life.

Note from Filmi Girl:

I love Bollywood - and all the ridiculous things that happen in Bollywood - but it doesn't mean that I can't occasionally make fun of various celebrities and films.

If you don't like my sense of humor, please just move on by - Trolls are not appreciated and nasty comments will be deleted.
