Thursday Gossip!

Good news for FG today! Guess who gets to see Osthe this weekend... ME!

Today in gossip, Vidya! Veena Malik! Farhan Akhtar! Bipasha Basu! And... one Mr. Abhishek Bachchan!

* I haven't had a chance to see The Dirty Picture yet but I enjoyed this piece on it.

Director Milan Luthria (Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, Taxi No: 9211) kicks off with a bang and never lets up. Along with writer Rajat Arora, he sprays the film all through with one-liners — some smart, some smutty, some tacky. Like their heroine, Silk, they splash about happily in the freedom that their raunchy subject matter offers them and the double-entendres roll out relentlessly. Many of them are already a rage on the Internet and the crowds are loving it, of course; each line is greeted with catcalls, much raucous laughter and the odd cheeky comment. It does bring back the fun into watching the movies in a hall.

And I'm surprised this hadn't happened BEFORE now - a petition to book Vidya on obscenity charges.

Well, should all the Khans add Balan to their names after this?

* In Veena Malik news, a Pakistani court rejected a petition against Veena but her father has disowned her.

Let me just give all you actresses a little friendly advice - DON'T POSE FOR FHM! They are sleazy and unless you have a big daddy backing you up (Shotgun Sinha, for example) they are definitely going to feel at liberty to use your images in the sleaziest manner possible.

Let me also say this, I believe Veena wasn't nude. Her crotch area looks distinctly airbrushed on that cover, as if somebody sat there editing out her panties. Which is what I think happened.

* Farhan Akhtar laments the rise of the quick turnaround in screening films.

"The first weekend has become the deciding weekend, which is unfortunate, although there were films that have done well in the second week like 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' after people went and spoke about it. It is a very trade mindset. One needs to understand that a film takes time to grow," he added.

Like how I would love to see Dirty Picture in its second weekend but...

* Oh ho! Bollywood Life takes on Hollywood celebs who claim to 'love' Bollywood.

Now, there is no point calling Cruise a liar. He’s in front of a huge crowd of fans (many of them who were paid Rs. 400 each to show up and cheer, but that’s another story) and he’s never going to say, “a pox on your piddly little industry. Me and Bollywood? Never!” in front of Indian fans and more importantly millions of Indians watching him on television, thanks to the potentially large box office for his films.

* Bipasha Basu lived on oranges for three days before her Dhoom 2 bikini scenes. That makes me sad.

Also, it reminded me of this post I just read on how the "healthy" bodies we see in the media involve a lot of unseen, unhealthy behaviors to get that way.

Lima’s training and nutrition regimen reveal that the look that is believed by some to be the epitome of feminine accomplishment — the look required to be a Victoria’s Secret Angel — is accompanied by significant physical strain. Lima looks as she is supposed to on the runway, but she is also dehydrated and hungry.

* Uh-oh... Abhishek allegedly styled himself for Players. Why do I have a feeling this is going to be a shit show of a film?

* I'm not sure if Agneepath releasing globally means just that we'll get it in our Indian theaters overseas or if it is going into our local markets, too...

* For anybody in South Africa, Alka Yagnik will be appearing in concert on on December 14th in Cape Town.

Note from Filmi Girl:

I love Bollywood - and all the ridiculous things that happen in Bollywood - but it doesn't mean that I can't occasionally make fun of various celebrities and films.

If you don't like my sense of humor, please just move on by - Trolls are not appreciated and nasty comments will be deleted.
