MONDAY GOSSIP!

GOOD MORNING! I had such a relaxing weekend! I needed to unwind after almost a solid month of birthday parties and other parties and traveling...

This week is Thanksgiving week here in America but we all know the REAL holiday to look forward to - DESI BOYZ releases on Friday! (Oops! Better update that countdown clock!) John and Akshay have been kicking their promotions into high gear so let's make some noise for the Desi Boyz! One, two, three, GO!

Now, today in gossip - Blue actress Sunny Leone signs a film; another actress is arrested for prostitution; NPR gets all condescending about Indian celebrity culture; Charmee, Kajal Agarwal, Priyanka, Ranveer, Salman, Tusshar, Vidya... and the trailer for PANJAA!

* An actress was arrested in a prostitution ring while her pimp gets a slap on the wrist.

* Meanwhile porn actress Sunny Leone has been signed on for Murder 3 with Mahesh Bhatt.

* This story from NPR on the newest Bachchan has a ridiculous tag ending.

Two days before Baby B landed, I was in Mumbai visiting a friend who lives across the street from the Bachchans. Just tell any taxi driver that and he'll be able to find my place, he told me. Somehow I managed to hail the only taxi driver in Mumbai who didn't know where the Bachchans lived. Saab, he said, what does it matter where these stars live? What will they do for me?

Now that the newest Bachchan has arrived, I still don't have an answer for him.

Why was this tag necessary? Are Indians not allowed to get worked up over celebrity culture? They can't be excited about Amitabh's granddaughter? Are they supposed to be worried about poor people every second of the day? Ugh.

Can you imagine a tag ending like this on a story about the Wills-Kate Royal Wedding and a taxi driver in London would have much more reason to feel philosophical about his/her tax dollars being spent on it.

* And there will be no public baby pictures... a decision I respect and the media should, too.

* Bollywood in Australia! They want to you come.

Tourism Australia managing director Andrew McEvoy isn't making a song and dance of the Bollywood phenomena, saying there are a number of box office flops, but he says: ''India's tourism potential is enormous … It shouldn't be seen as a big surprise that more and more tourism bodies are turning to Bollywood films as part of their marketing approach.

I suppose the outbreak of anti-Asian violence from a few years ago is much less compelling for Indian tourists. It's worth pointing out that the last film I saw that was partly set in Australia - Mr. Perfect - featured a scene where the hero trashes some Australian thugs who were in the middle of perpetrating anti-Asian violence.

I wonder how many of the Australia tourism people actually watch these films...

* The regional viral hit "Kolaveri Di" cracks through to big English language media machine. (They include lyrics... which are extremely silly!)

* Things are looking good for Kajal Agarwal, who is busy post-Singham with a full kitty of projects.

* This article has Akshay making a film about Bigg Boss but it doesn't seem like the kind of thing Akshay does.

* Shilpa Shetty is still fighting some nuisance cases...

* Is it Ranveer AND Anushka for Bombay Velvet?!

* Did Salman pass on Dookudo to tackle Arya 2 instead?

* Tusshar Kapoor is butthurt that people think only Ekta is hiring him.

Talking about misconceptions, Tusshar also highlights how the industry wrongly believes that he is only doing his home production movies. "Among the 25 films that I've done, "The Dirty Picture" is my fifth film from my home production. I have refused "EMI" and "Krishna Cottage" despite their being home productions. My biggest hit was "Golmaal" and that's not by our home production," he says.

* I love Vidyut Jamwal. This guy is one to watch out for!

A new entrant he may be, but along with tasting success Vidyut is already getting a taste of link-ups as well. B-Town is abuzz with talks of him dating actor Mona Kapoor. So is it true? “Well, I am here to work and not be discussed about for my personal life. So people can say what they want to, I will let my work do all the talking for me,” says Vidyut.

Boo-yah! Who are these readers they are pandering to that find link-ups so fascinating?! Sure, we'd all be interested in real scandal - like a big name actor caught cheating - but these little link-up rumors are pointless and ubiquitous. Why even write about them?

This story on Priyanka Chopra is much more amusing. Apparently, she got so angry at all the personal questions at a press meet for a coffee commercial that she stormed off.

An eyewitness informed Mumbai Mirror, "Priyanka refused the joint interaction. Even after having worked together with Shahid in Kohli’s film, the actress did not want to share space off screen with the actor. This enraged the reporters."

That was however, not all. The actress stopped interacting with the media altogether after a while. "A few reporters asked Priyanka about her personal life. They asked her about her relationship with one of her co-stars. This made her extremely edgy. And she simply walked out," added the witness.

* Katrina will be working with Ganesh Acharya for her Agneepath item! This should be good... I like Ganesh's work. He's the one who choreographed that fantastic song from Sunday.

* CHARMEE AND DIGANTH in Dev S/O Muddegowda!

"I play a choreographer in the film. There is a perception that choreographers are tomboyish, bold, have a different body language and keep screaming on the sets. I've never played such a role before and was immediately attracted to it. Moreover, the director of the film thought that only I could do justice to the character," says Charmme.

* Will we be seeing a Hindi remake of Mani Ratnam's Thalapathi?

* And Sunny Deol's image changing film, in which he trades fisticuffs for a dhoti and mouche, is stuck in post production. (For which we are all grateful, I'm sure.)

The trailer for Panjaa which looks FREAKING BOSS! JACKIE SHROFF!!!!! And that bit with the bullet hole is fantastic. This is going to be one to watch out for!

And lovely, lovely Vidya Balan decked up in tribute to Silk Smitha... check out her Item Number purse! Their facebook page is here - great stuff is you love Bollywood!

I used to like Ganesh's choreography back in the 90's especially with Salman and even Govinda ie Judwaa.

But the problem is now that the guy has become so morbidly obese that the only things he makes actors do is just move one body part (hands, shoulders, leg) at time and grin and mug in front of the camera.

It's one of those things I've picked up on and since then can't not make a note of it every time :-)
Plus have we forgiven him for Apna Sapna Money Money?

Note from Filmi Girl:

I love Bollywood - and all the ridiculous things that happen in Bollywood - but it doesn't mean that I can't occasionally make fun of various celebrities and films.

If you don't like my sense of humor, please just move on by - Trolls are not appreciated and nasty comments will be deleted.
