Saturday Gossip!

People in London - Shankar Ehsaan Loy performing on the 18th!

Today in gossip - TIFF; Rishi + Ranbir united on film; and some assorted feud rumors...! And whatever other odds and ends I've collected!

* Read a round-up of the India-related films at TIFF.

Media interest was the strongest on Freida Pinto. Trishna is Pinto’s fourth film since her debut in Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire. Her work since then has been uneven, but in Trishna she delivers her best performance to date. Hers is a fully developed, vulnerable character who ties her destiny to Jay, believing in their romance, although the man often overlooks her emotions. However, Riz Ahmed, who last year appeared in the British comedy The Four Lions, turns out to be the real star: seductive, charming, even as his character portrays negative tones.

* Bollywood turns to television for ideas. Does television really work in film, though? Like American TV, the serial nature of Indian dramas doesn't really seem like it would make for great film.

* I think Juhi Chawla misses the old Shahrukh.

* A little more info on Mausam delay.

Indian Air Force Public Relations Officer, Wing Commander Gerard Galway, noted that the IAF has “no objection with the film’s script or characters involved,” but said the Air Force raised concerns over a 30 second flying sequence because it was “unrealistic” and “nowhere close to how the IAF would operate.”

* Censor Board has problems with the second Dirty Picture promo.

* Is Sanjay Dutt feuding with Sanjay Gupta?

* Govinda has been summoned to court over his assault case.

* Arbaaz Khan is playing the villain in the Kannada remake of Chatrapathi. This could be interesting...

* Salman to remake Kanchana?

* Look into turning Midnight's Children into a film.

It all began over a glass of wine, right here in Toronto. The author and the film maker were talking about adapting one of his books, and when Rushdie asked which book she would want to do, Mehta replied without skipping a beat, Midnight’s Children. Done, said Rushdie. “Holy s__t,” she says she thought to herself immediately, as it dawned on her what a challenging task it would be to make a film of that 600-plus-page classic.

* Ranveer Singh + Rajkumar Hirani? Yes, please!

* Dibakar Banerjee faces problems shooting for Shanghai.

Making of the Rishi-Ranbir Pepsi ad! Is it me or is Rishi looking really healthy these days? STAY STRONG RISHI! We want you around for a long time!

Note from Filmi Girl:

I love Bollywood - and all the ridiculous things that happen in Bollywood - but it doesn't mean that I can't occasionally make fun of various celebrities and films.

If you don't like my sense of humor, please just move on by - Trolls are not appreciated and nasty comments will be deleted.
