Good morning, everybody!
I haven't had this much sleep in ages... YAWN! Sometimes it's good to step back from a busy life and just rest. Of course, that means I only made it halfway through that epic battle of ideologies and Prabhudeva with blond hair and zebra-striped trousers that is H20 before I zonked out. But... WOW! Interesting film! I can't wait to see how it all turns out. I'm consistently surprised and delighted by the films coming out of Karnataka.
Okay, what is popping in Bollywood today...
* Is cricket to blame for empty theaters?
* Is it time for the Censor Board to go?
Ankush Bhatt, the maker of another controversial flick Bhindi Bazaar, says, “I think in a democratic country like ours, it is wrong of people to ask us to screen our films before a panel of politicians. It’s entirely for the audience to judge what is right or wrong. And ultimately it’s all for the cause of entertainment.”
Our process in the USA is more insidious - a vicious combination of puritanism and capitalism. I highly recommend people check out the documentary on the American version of the Censor Board called This Film Is Not Yet Rated. It's pretty eye opening.
* English director Michael Winterbottom is making a Tess of the D'Ubervilles adaptation starring (sigh) Frieda Pinto and set in Rajasthan.
Out of all the amazing actresses working in India today, he picks one of the most middling to play Tess...
* Shahid Kapoor in an action film directed by Anjaana Anjaani director Sidharth Anand?
And in possibly the greatest (by which I mean, most ridiculous) news story of the day is this one about market research testing done for Shahid Kapoor. Just click it - I don't want to spoil the spit take you're going to do.
* Mithun's son Haunted 3D. One can only hope dancing talent is genetic.
And now for some pretty ladies!
Yana Gupta's "Laila O Laila"... she's hot but the choreography is decidedly not.
Some lovely ladies were in attendance at the Miss India pageant!

The latest, top-searched beauty... Sonakshi Sinha!

Spunky Anushka Sharma!

Sizzling Malaika Arora Khan!

AND MY GIRL HARD KAUR! Love ya, babe!

Mallika is just so RAVISHING.
Freida's "one of the most middling"? Given how few films she's been in, isn't it a bit early for a judgment like that? IMDb has only 3 released films with her in them. Maybe it's a nice chance to see what she's capable of, unless you're anatagonistic toward her for the sin of having been IN Slumdog? Guilt by association, given how you feel about that movie, perhaps?
