Sunday Gossip!

It's a nice sunny Sunday morning and I've got some good news!!

AR RAHMAN is
playing some US tour dates! June 13th in Washington, DC!

Woo hoo!!

Don't forget that this is Arshad Warsi Week here on the blog -
The first post in the series is here! So, check it out!

* And check out Stephen Baker's article on
foreign actors being targeted in Bollywood.

Marathi Item girl Rakhi Sawant, is one of the few public figures to vocally support the MNS, "Because of these foreigners, our Indian girls remain jobless," she told The Hindustan Times. "These white girls are like lollipops that only last for two days." Confused by Rakhi's mixed simile lollipop reference? We sure are. But thought we'd take the opportunity to remind Rakhi of her Buddha Mil Gaya Indo-pop video, shot with none other than a troupe of Mumbai based foreign dancers.

* Read a
conversation with director Dibakar Bannerjee.

So, what does he make of Bollywood?

He takes a cigarette break to think and enunciates carefully. “Its capacity to be inexact is monumental—creatively and also business wise. And out of that capacity comes a very evolved science of guesswork. There’s a lot of ego, guess work and wild west territorialism at play. But now there are guys who are rising above that and doing well.”

* Ranbir Kapoor is a total charmer who
likes discussing football with Katrina Kaif.

* Karan Johar is having
twitter problems...

* Salim Khan is helping to fund
Dabangg.

* Yet another starlet bragging about
her weight loss.

Can you believe that at one point of time, I used to weigh 75 kgs? I had to work hard and today I am an anorexic 45 kgs," says Shweta about her weight loss.

Bragging about anorexia is not good - anorexia is a serious illness.

* Southern stars
breaking big in Bollywood?

Siddharth An impressive lineup of Tamil-Telugu superhits, Siddharth is known as the thinking girl’s sex symbol.

After a talked-about debut in Rang De Basanti, Sid woke up again a good two years later with an impressive, rounded performance in Striker. Now, he’s here to stay. Strength I With the discipline and drive of Aamir Khan, Siddharth can hold a close-up better than many in Bollywood. And he promises a six-pack on demand. Weakness I Which South Indian hero has really made it big in Bollywood? Verdict I Says Sid, “With due respect, how many from Bollywood have made it big in the South?” Says Striker director Chandan Arora, “Sid has a smouldering no-nonsense personality. He appeals to Gen-X and their mothers.”

* Read about
Suman Sridhar who is the voice of that adorable Coke commercial with Imran and Kalki.

In India, after travels which a lot of 20-somethings dub as ‘finding myself’, Sridhar discovered her composing talents, courtesy a Mac book. After a gig on a Bangalore stage once, she ran into Jeet Thayil, a poet-musician and they struck a chord. Their independent band, Sridhar/Thayil (S/T) first performed in Sri Lanka in 2008 and since then, they’ve created a niche with their music. S/T have now performed in London apart from Mumbai and Delhi, and “we want to include more operas, theatre and poetry under our umbrella,” she says. They’ve already done a two-person opera at Prithvi.
