Saturday Gossip!

There was so much to go through this morning! It's funny how some days I'm trying to find something interesting amidst the flattering stories "leaked" from various film sets and rehashed takes on old gossip stories and things just plain made-up out of thin air and other days it takes me an hour to dig through everything that's happening.

ETA: Due to an unfortunate pressing of buttons, this was only half published at first - check back for more links!

Anyways, here we go!

* I haven't had a chance to listen to this yet because I was away from my desk a lot yesterday at the office but my favorite NPR show On Point had an interview with Junoon's Salman Ahmad. The host of On Point - Tom Ashbrook - is always very respectful. I've heard other interviews with Muslim guests that he's done and was always impressed.

* My favorite bitchy Bollywood writer (that's not me) tackles Chance Pe Dance:

Shahid brings out all the shades, nuances and layers in the struggler's inner world without bending the rules of commercial herogiri. This is a far better performance than it outwardly seems.

Whether romancing the funny girl-next-door (okay, a few block away) manifesting the disappointments of a struggler who's getting emotionally worn-out waiting for the big moment, or interacting with the kids in school (the director is almost as good with these angels from hell as Shekhar Kapoor in Mr India), Shahid just goes with the flow with a fluidity that goes beyond the dance-floor.

Two things - this is exactly the kind of thing I look for in a hero and, also, I'm starting to think Subhash K. Jha and I are probably the same person.

* Indra Kumar's next film is tentatively called Double Dhamaal and will star Akshaye Khanna, Anil Kapoor, Govinda, and Sanjay Dutt. No word on the ladies as of yet, but I have a feeling it will be the usual batch of second-stringers. Neha Dhupia, Celina Jaitely, etc.

* Akshay Kumar has been confirmed for Anees Bazmee's rom-com Thank You. Please let Katrina Kaif be the leading lady. I love their jodi and he did pretty good things with them in Welcome and Singh is Kinng.

* Imran Khan is officially engaged!

* Tabu is BACK! YAY! The lovely and talented actress will be seen in Toh Baat Pakki, which also stars Sharman Joshi - it releases February 19th.

* Subhash Ghai is debuting Jackie Shroff's son Tiger in a remake of Hero. The Tiger rumor has been floating around for a while so I guess this is the confirmation. Honestly... he's not great looking, so lets hope he has some acting chops.

* Prabu Deva's Ich is doing a shooting schedule in New York!

* Five people were injured at a Veer press conference.

* Jugal Hansraj eviscerates Pyaar Impossible:

Strictly speaking, it’s a Hollywood rom-com acting as a desi prem kahani. And it’s a bad Hollywood rom-com that won’t catch your interest even on Sunday afternoon TV.

Well, we all knew Uday Chopra had bad taste...

* Peepli Live gets an A certificate. It's heading to Sundance - I wonder what American critics will make of it...

* Actor Inder Kumar, who I have not seen in anything, was taken into custody for punching some guy on a flight. He was released with a warning.

* Ravaan has a release date!!!!!! June 18th!

* And Housefull is set for April 30th!

* Dueling Jokers are causing problems for directors Shirish Kunder and Vikram Tuli both wanting the title. Shirish was there first, so the Prachi Desai/Rajeev Khandewal starrer will probably have to go with something else.

* Nana Patekar is playing a cop in a Sandalwood film! Yay!

* And Priyanka Chopra might be doing a song for a Sandalwood film!

* @iamsrk aka SHAHRUKH KHAN leaked details of Don 2 and Ra.1 on his twitter account.

* Anil Ambari launches a bid for MGM Studios.

* Aamir Khan filmed a special segment about romance with Shammi Kapoor for the Cine Artiste Association.

* Don't forget that ANIL KAPOOR will be on the new season of 24, which starts tomorrow. The New York Times over analyzes it!

* Will the Sonia Gandhi project finally see the light of day?! Since we all know Rajneeti ISN'T about Sonia

* Check out a review of A.R. Rahman's Sydney performance!

ok, While watching the "It's a wonderful afterlife" trailer as soon as I saw Sendhil, I said (out loud to myself) "He is sooo gorgeous". And that is totally repeated in the trailer itself 2 seconds later! But what else could you say when confronted with Sendhil's gorgeousness?! Anyway, it looks like a great film!!

Note from Filmi Girl:

I love Bollywood - and all the ridiculous things that happen in Bollywood - but it doesn't mean that I can't occasionally make fun of various celebrities and films.

If you don't like my sense of humor, please just move on by - Trolls are not appreciated and nasty comments will be deleted.
