Time for a new Sandalwood movie order!!

The Kannada Store has gotten in quite a few new DVDs with English subs since last I checked and I think these are the four I'll be purchasing on my next order...

Just a note - I've excerpted the synopses from Kannadastore.com but on the site, the synopses tend to give away the plot, so be warned before you read them!!

You will find no spoilers here, though!

Sangama starring Golden Star Ganesh!!

The synopsis taken from Kannadastore.com:

Balu (Ganesh) journey in life is filled with doing well to those whom he meets. He is the darling of Lachchi['s] (Vedhika) family because he is always a decision maker in the family. When a software boy is selected for the marriage of Lachchi it is Balu who goes with Khama (Komalkumar) to know the true colors of the boy. When the duo describe in the family of Lachchi how 'Naalayak' is the boy for Lachchi there is a feel of rejoice. The savior and protector of Lachchi family Balu is a small time real estate operator for his livelihood.

So, basically, Ganesh will fall in love with the girl he has already promised to give in marriage to somebody else and it will be awesomely angsty but also cute!

Here's a song from the film!!

Next up is Psycho!

The synopsis from Kannadastore.com:

The story revolves around a psychopathic personality (the director has not referred his name in the film) who stalks the heroine and even speaks to her from his mobile phone which gets number change very often. Pavana is working as a television anchor and mysteriously gets help from some unknown person whom she can not identify.

I have no idea where on Earth this plot will go but it looks really interesting.

Here is the trailer!

This next one is a cute family film - Venkata in Sankata.

The synopsis from Kannadastore.com:

Police constable Venkata (Ramesh Aravind) always faces some problems on duty. Though he does good deeds, circumstances force his junior Rajaram Laddoo (Devdas) to take all the credit. Our hero finds romance when a TV anchor (Sharmila Mandre) falls in love with him. Venkata is also sent to a college to pose as a student to get information on underworld don Iqbal (Rajendra Karanth), who plans to terrorize the city with blasts. The don also threatens to kill the Prime Minister, supposed to visit the college as the chief guest at a function. Venkata handles the situation brilliantly. How?

I don't know?! HOW?!

Here is a song!

Last up is Haage Summane.

The synopsis from Kannadastore.com:

Being pampered by his rich father, Preetham becomes a way ward youngster who is unaware of all responsibilities. Even in his education he is just an undergraduate and enjoys being a spend thrift. He has been pampered by his father and grand father. One day he meets Kushi, a music student and finds her doing a disappearing act in minutes. But he finds a dairy that she has left and reads it. It is a love at first sight and the contents in the dairy makes him more determined to seek her.

Romance!!! Wayward youths!! Music!!!

Here is a saxophone filled song for you!!

Hmmm...some movies for me to look into. You have really helped jump start my interest in Kannada films, Filmi Girl!

If nothing else, I may have to at least buy the soundtracks to a couple of these films.

Hee! I know there are some big names on at least one of these soundtracks - Sonu Nigam, for one, who is all over Sandalwood these days.

I'm so happy that that Sandalwood movie was shooting in DC last winter because it introduced me to a whole delightful world of films!

Sonu nigam is fab in South, he recently grabbed a Filmfare for kannada song.
Filmigril, tell me two movies, which are best to start adventure with Ganesh!

@louella I would recommend "Mungaru Male" and "Hudugaata" to experience the maximum of Golden Star Ganesh's charms!

Ok, I'll search for them :)

@aham Wow! Thank you for the recommendations! :)

My movies all came in - thanks to the helpful folks at Kannadastore.com - and I'm hoping to have time to watch them over our Thanksgiving Holidays.

I've found that Kannada films have a very different flavor to Tamil and Telugu films. They are more intimate and real... plus, I do love Golden Star Ganesh! :D

I too want to watch psyhco as it got really good reviews, but still havent, yep Golden star(or simply G) is a charmer, his dialogue is pretty good. Also let me know what kind of movies you like,if some violence is ok or serious cimena is ok then I can suggest loads of movies.

Note from Filmi Girl:

I love Bollywood - and all the ridiculous things that happen in Bollywood - but it doesn't mean that I can't occasionally make fun of various celebrities and films.

If you don't like my sense of humor, please just move on by - Trolls are not appreciated and nasty comments will be deleted.
